Each semester, RecSports at UF publishes the Recsports: The Magazine, an exhaustive guide to everything that the department offers to UF's 50,000 students. RecSports needed a unique aesthetic for the magazine that would set it apart from other student activities guides. We combined "grungy" texture treatments with extensive use of silhouettes and bold typography to convey a sense of action that would inspire students to get out and get active.
Bootcamp is a challenging fitness class that mimics the high-intensity strength and cardio work found in the basic training programs of military forces around the world. When tasked with creating the poster for advertising this class, we focused on the textures of the sand pit where the class takes place. We also included closeup shots of participants getting sweaty and dirty to really communicate the hard work that this class involves.
Each semester, the Department of Recreational Sports hosts Gator Hour at the Alpine Tower, a free climbing session on the Alpine Tower ropes course. Students can make the ten mile drive from Gainesville to Micanopy and experience an extraordinary afternoon suspended high in the air.
The chapter of Chi Phi Fraternity at the University of Florida needed a shirt for their recruitment events, one that would make them really stand out. We designed this shirt with a "grungy" surfer theme that gave it a much more dynamic and stylish appearance that the typical event shirt.
